Alexa
listing or ranking of a website is based on proving the ownership of a site. And
to prove the ownership of the site there are some things required of you to do
either by uploading some content to your site or adding a Meta tag to your site
html.
Alexa
rank both globally and locally. Globally is how your site rank internationally
while locally is how your site ranks in your country.
Once
your site is been verified by Alexa it will start showing in your dashboard and
you can edit the listing of your website information.
Below
are the steps on how to claim your website free with Alexa
Step
1. Sign up with Alexa or alternatively you can sign in with your Facebook
account
Step
2. Click on add site on your dashboard
Step
3. Click on check pricing
Step
4.Scroll down to the page and click on the claim a site and this will take you to
another new page with this address http://www.alexa.com/siteowners/claim
Step
5. Select method 2 and copy the Meta tag and add it to the <head> section
of your html homepage
How
to add it to the html template
For
blogger blog click on your blogger dashboard and click on template and click on
edit template and add the code given to you by Alexa above the <head>
section of your html editor.
For
wordpress blog go to appearance and click on editor and you will find
header.php, paste the code above it.
After
adding the code to your template go back to Alexa and click on verify my ID and
if successfully verified it will appear that your site was successfully claimed
and the claimed will appear next to your site name in the Alexa dashboard and
you are done.
